The Elanex Translation Inventory is a
pioneering server-based translation memory system providing centralized storage of all our clients'
translations, and instant availability to all team members.
Translation memory - the idea of storing and re-using translations - has been around for some years. Translation
memory leads to reduced cost (by re-using existing translations), improved quality (through using previous
translations as models for new translations), and improved speed (through reducing human labor).
The Elanex Inventory offers a number of key benefits over competing solutions:
- Server-based. Most commercial translation memory systems (such as Trados) are file-based.
A server-based system offers instant availability anywhere in the world, easier management, and better matching (since
it's easier to ensure all completed translations are matched against).
- Open standards. Most competing TM systems use proprietary database formats, and make
import/export a complex error-prone process. Although some claim to support TMX, the open Translation Memory eXchange
standard), the exported files maintain proprietary tags which mean that the files will lead to lower matching levels.
The Elanex Inventory uses an open database platform (SQL Server), and allows easy export and import in both plain text
and TMX formats.
- Advanced matching. Utilizing our proprietary matching algorithm, the Inventory consistently provides levels of matching at or exceeding the levels
of other solutions.
